ABOUT US
Fairlawn Church of the Nazarene’s teen ministries seeks to get teens excited and
interested in their faith in God and the church. We think it is important to help
teens develop a faith that lasts.
PARENTS
We seek to build relationships and PARTNER with parents as they seek to disciple
their teens. We have quarterly meetings with parents to create an atmosphere to encourage
parents as they seek to disciple their teens, to pray together with parents, and
to communicate with parents.
Engage is our Sunday morning Youth Group. During this time we look to engage teens through a variety of different ways.
We want to see each teen who comes through our doors be interested in what is going on and feel connected to other teens in our church.
While using various ways to get teens interested and engaged in what is going on during this time, often we will use games, singing songs to God together, a short message, and small group to accomplish all this.
SUNDAY
MORNINGS
FOR YOUTH
Our Sunday night programming is called form or formation groups. This is where our teens dig more deeply into God’s Word. The form leader leads a discussion for part of the time together discussing with teens how they are doing spiritually. They may ask questions like, “How has God been speaking to you lately? And how have you been responding?”
Our goal is that through this time we are not just dumping more information on them, but that this time is a tool that God uses to form them.
We think it is important for our teens to Connect as a group (church) - both as a youth group and overall to the church. Many of the activities (retreats, Cornerstone Fun Night, etc.), and even things we do in our normal programming, are for the sake of us making new connections with our group and strengthening the connections we already have.
We think it is important for our teens to connect to God. We look to help teens to know Christ and grow in that relationship with God through many of our extra activities, as well as Engage on Sunday mornings and small groups during the week. Often teens are encouraged to start new disciplines to help them continue to grow in their faith.
We seek to help teens connect others to God (community). We encourage teens to get involved in their community, use the gifts God has given them - to reach out to those who do not know Christ, and to help other Christians in their walk with Christ.
For many youth, their family home will be the best place for discipleship to happen. For this reason, we seek to partner with parents and look for ways to build relationships with and encourage them.

On Wednesday nights we spend our time together serving others. We will do various outreach and service projects in our community and church. This helps our teens to be the hands and feet of Jesus and to tangibly live their faith and impact others.
